SPELLINGS
As a school we are passionate in supporting the children in learning the correct spellings for age appropriate words and to allow pupils to demonstrate their progress beyond a ‘test’. We have introduced the RWI Spelling which builds on the skills the pupils have already developed during the RWI Phonics programme.
Pupils are assessed and taught by their spelling ability. They attend daily sessions which are short and focused with a spelling pattern or rule each week. Through this regular and consist approach to teaching spelling, children become familiar with the spelling rules and patterns and learn how to apply them to a range of words until they are embedded in their day-to-day writing.
