MRS ROBINSON

We were very happy to welcome Miss Robinson to our school in September 2020 from Monks Coppenhall Academy. Miss Robinson has been teaching for 10 years across Early Years and Key Stage 1 and has specialised in Early Years. Miss Robinson enjoys Art, learning through play and outdoor learning.

MRS LYON

We are very lucky to have Mrs Lyon supporting the children in Reception/Year 1. She is an excellent and experienced TA, who is caring and nurturing towards the children. She is also very talented at creating a lovely learning environment in our classroom. She provides valuable additional support within the classroom throughout the week.

RECEPTION CURRICULUM

Our Early Years Foundation Stage is a fun and enjoyable place to be with many interactive and engaging activities for our children to access. We aim to provide a broad, balanced curriculum both indoors and outdoors, where the children are excited to learn every day. The children’s own interests and fascinations are very important to us and so when the children are learning through play, we observe their interests carefully and then incorporate those interests into our planning, allowing the children to take ownership of their learning.

YEAR 1 CURRICULUM

In Year One each term we focus on a different topic. You can find more information about what we are learning at the beginning of each term in the files below.

In Year 1, children will bring home a Maths homework activity on Thursdays to be returned for marking on Mondays. The children will be given up to 10 questions to recap on previous learning in class. If they complete their maths homework, they will earn an extra smiley for the week.

Children will also be expected to read at home 5 times a week and complete a reading activity in their reading journals. Doing both of these will earn them 2 extra smileys each week. Please ensure that the reading diary is signed each time your child reads at home, so we can reward the children with their reading smileys.

During the half term holidays, children will be set half term projects to complete, based on their learning in class. Completing this will earn the children up to 3 additional smileys each.
