SPORTS
At Haslington Primary Academy and Nursery we aim to offer a broad range of sporting activities with the aim of encouraging every pupil to be active and enjoy sport. Lessons are delivered every week to each class and are structured around building the skills needed to play and enhance their participation in a range of sports. We offer a variety of different sports each year and progress from skills-based learning to game-based learning through our sessions. At Haslington Primary Academy and Nursery to have the space and equipment available to practise all of our sports and physical education.
Alongside Ministry 4 Sport, we deliver quality lessons to our students. Mr Bradbury and his team have a vast amount of experience teaching primary school children in and out of an educational setting and are well equipped to deliver outstanding provision. Miss Barber is our P.E curriculum leader and oversees the provision in Haslington Primary Academy and Nursery to ensure that our children are actively involved and making the progress expected of them in this area.
MUSIC
At Haslington Primary Academy and Nursery, we see music is an integral part of our curriculum. We believe strongly in the power of music to enhance creativity and support learning in all subjects. Children are taught music as part of their class-based learning and also experience music through singing in performances and assemblies and in clubs.
We work closely with the Love Music Trust, a local charitable organisation which champions specialist music teaching in schools. Through the Love Music Trust, our children have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills and techniques and will be learning all about different types of drumming including:
- Autumn: Japanese Taiko
- Spring: Brazilian Samba
- Summer: West African Djembe
We also offer individual and small group instrumental and singing tuition through the Music for Schools Foundation and Music for Life.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
At Haslington Primary Academy and Nursery we are proud to be able to offer a range of extracurricular activities that take place after the school day end. We offer a wide range of clubs which includes:
- Science
- Football
- Netball
- Multi-sports
- Dance
- Arts and Crafts
- Photography
- Construction
- Choir
Please note – not all of these clubs run all year round. To access the most up to date after school clubs that are on offer, please look at the school calendar and website. We will also send regular letters/Dojo messages regarding the clubs that we have on offer for you to book a place for your child.

FOREST SCHOOL
At Haslington Primary Academy and Nursery, our extensive grounds allow for our children to experience crucial outdoor play and learning. Miss Robinson organises special outdoor learning days for all the children and as we move forward in becoming an accredited Forest school, we will continue to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences.
