Our Community

We are very lucky that our school is at the heart of Haslington Community.  We pride ourselves on promoting our school and working with residents to make Haslington the best it can be.  Our children gain a sense of responsibility and pride for where they live and understand their place within the community.

This includes:

  • Attending the Village Day each year
  • Singing for the elderly residents at Hollymere House
  • Our Reception children join with Boogie Beats singing with the elderly residents who have Dementia
  • Inviting the elderly residents to come into school to watch school performances
  • Children donating money to the NEIGHBOURS charity to buy gifts the the disadvantaged children within our community
  • Donating Harvest Items to the NEIGHBOURS’ charity and local food banks
  • Holding school fairs and inviting the local community
  • Inviting the Fire Brigade to support our children with fire safety
  • Working with the local police and PCSOs who have lunch with the children and work throughout school with our classes
  • Each year attending the Remembrance Sunday ceremony and are lucky to have the Cenotaph right next to our school
  • Rail safety

Attached are letters of thanks we have received from the charities we help and photographs to highlight our community spirit.

Remembrance Sunday

Every year our school attends the Remembrance Sunday ceremony with a group of children and we lay a wreath in memory of our fallen heroes.  This year, a 100 years since the First World War ended, we remembered those who gave their lives for use and those who continue to do so.  A group children laid a wreath donated by the NEIGHBOURS charity as the sun came out to light up the Cenotaph.

Christmas Donations for Donna Louise

Our parents have donated many gifts to give to The Donna Louise Trust – a MASSIVE thank you to everyone.  Read the letter of thanks.

£100 of the money raised was donated to the NEIGHBOURS charity here in Haslington to support buying gifts for the disadvantaged pupils in our local community.
